Can I see Furine in action?

Absolutely! Please see the below video for a brief overview of the Furine system. To schedule an in-person demo, please complete the form at the bottom of the page! We would love the opportunity to provide you and your team a hands-on training and Q&A session.

Challenges in Care for Critically Ill Patients:

Up to 37% of patients who are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units experience fecal incontinence during their hospital stay.1 Caring for critically ill and therefore very vulnerable patients that suffer from fecal oozing, is a challenging and often complicated task, demanding more time and resources.

When a patient has fecal incontinence there is increased risk of developing complications including perianal skin break-down, pressure sores, pain/discomfort, infection, and in the worst cases, sepsis.

What is Furine?

Furine eases healthcare providers’ daily workload and offers patients unmatched comfort and mobility. That’s because Furine is the first non-invasive system to divert liquid stool to a bedside bag. Furine combines comfortable, skin-safe application with a leak-proof design and ease of maintenance for the best patient and provider experience.

How does it work?

Furine is non-invasive and has a skin-friendly, strong two-component silicone adhesive system, that attaches the product to the perianal skin.

The skin adhesive element of the product consists of a unique, soft, and elastic silicone, that is developed to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers, and to ensure the comfort of the patient. Furthermore, the skin adhesive element is specially formed to fit perianal anatomy.

Additional Features:

  • Included in each Furine kit is an applicator that ensures proper attachment and bonding to the perianal skin.
  • A silicone tube diverts the liquid stool to a collection bag (Furine Collect) which can be attached to the patient’s bedside with a secure locking mechanism.
  • Furine Collect is equipped with a charcoal filter to reduce malodors.
  • After use, Furine Collect can be securely closed with the attached lid to eliminate the risk of spillage.
  • Each Furine kit includes:
    • Two (2) Medical Skin Wipes to prepare the skin before application
    • One (1) Securin Skin Barrier: part of the unique two-component adhesive system
    • One (1) Furine Collect
    • One (1) Instructions for Use

What is Furine Plus?

Furine Plus has an extra protective layer on the silicone tube that is impermeable to odor. Thus, the risk of odor problems related to fecal incontinence is significantly reduced.

Furine Plus is equipped with the same non-invasive and skin-friendly silicone adhesive system that secures the product to the perianal skin.

Is Furine the right choice for my patient?

Furine is intended for use on patients with liquid faecal incontinence to manage the collection of
stools type 6 or 7 on the Bristol Stool Scale (BSS).
